The Hellenic Parliament and the House of Representatives of Cyprus will sign a memorandum of cooperation regarding Cyprus donation in support of the health sector of Mati, the area which was severely hit by a deadly wildfire in 2018.

The memorandum of cooperation concerns the donation of over 10 million euros, by Cyprus for the support of the health units in Mati and the wider region.

The memorandum has been drafted with the help and contribution of the Health Ministries of the two countries following a relevant decision taken by the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Nicos Voutsis met today the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Greece Kyriakos Kenevezos and discussed the details for the completion of the cooperation regarding Cyprus’ donation.

After the meeting, Voutsis said that the donation will be used either for the construction of a new health unit in Mati or for the enhancement of the existing heath units in the region.

On his part, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Greece said that Cyprus’ donation constitutes an expression of solidarity towards Greece. “This gesture proves that we can be united during difficult times and that together we can overcome difficult moments”, he said.
