Police book 130 citizens and 6 establishment owners for violating measures against Covid-19

Cyprus police handed out fines to 130 citizens and 6 establishment owners during the last 24 hours for violating the measures aiming to curb the spread of Covid-19.

A police spokesperson told CNA that a total of 11,144 checks were carried out island-wide from 06.00 am on April 1st until the same time on April 2nd.

In Nicosia the police conducted 2,282 checks and reported 22 citizens and one establishment owner. In Limassol they carried out 3,481 checks and booked 47 citizens and three establishment owners. In Larnaca the police conducted 1,432 checks and handed out fines to 21 citizens and to one establishment owner.

In Paphos the police carried out 1,375 checks and reported 24 citizens and one establishment owner, while in Famagusta they conducted 1,229 checks and booked 4 citizens. In Morphou a total of 652 checks were done and one citizen was booked.

The Traffic Department conducted 619 checks and reported 11 citizens. The Emergency Response Unit carried out 13 checks without reporting anyone. The Port and Marine Police conducted 61 checks without also reporting anyone.
