Police book 187 citizens and 8 establishment owners for violating measures against COVID-19

Cyprus police has reported 187 citizens and eight establishment owners during the last 24 hours for violating the measures aiming to curb the spread of COVID-19.

A police spokesperson told CNA that a total of 14,119 checks were carried out from Thursday 0600 until Friday 0600.

In Nicosia the police conducted 2,200 checks and booked 42 citizens and one establishment owner, while 5,676 checks were carried out in Limassol with 84 citizens and four establishment owners being reported.

In Larnaca the police carried out 1,253 checks and handed out fines to 14 citizens and three establishment owners, while in Paphos they conducted 1,356 checks and reported 19 citizens.

In Famagusta a total of 1,706 checks were carried out and 14 citizens were booked, while in Morphou the police conducted 869 checks and reported 4 citizens.

Moreover, the Traffic Department carried out 998 checks, and handed out fines to 10 citizens, while the Port and Marine Police conducted 57 citizens, without reporting anyone. The Emergency Response Unit conducted 4 checks without also handing out any fines.
