Police book 43 individuals and 6 shop owners for COVID-19 measures violations

Police booked 43 individuals and 6 shop owners in the last 24 hours after carrying out 4,655 checks for violations of measures against the spread of COVID-19.

A Police spokesperson said that the 6 violations for shop owners concerned non-presentation of safe pass and not using a mask. The fines reached a total of 10,000 euros in Nicosia, Limassol and Pafos, where the premises were.

In Nicosia, a total of 781 checks were held and 6 citizens were fined as well as 3 shop owners.

In Limassol 725 checks were conducted with 21 individuals and 2 shop owners. In Larnaca after 756 checks 1 person was reported, in Pafos after 1,098 checks, 8 people were booked and one shop owner, in Famagusta Police conducted 574 checks and reported 7 citizens while in Morphou after 393 checks there was no fines.

The Traffic Department carried out 315 checks while the Marine Police 13 and no violation of measures were reported.

A safe pass presentation is mandatory in almost all hospitality venues and other event premises following a government decree aiming to curb the spread of coronavirus in Cyprus.
