Police fine 20 citizens and 5 establishments for violations of COVID measures

Police fined 20 citizens and 5 establishment owners for violations of COVID measures, in a total of 2.714 checks the last 24 hours across the island.

A press officer from the Police Press Office told the Cyprus News Agency that in Nicosia the police carried out 1,234 checks during which they fined 6 citizens and 3 establishement owners, in Limassol in 196 checks 4 fines were handed to citizens and in Larnaka the Police made  482 checks and fined one citizen. In Paphos 2 establishment owners were fined in 265 checks, in Famagusta 9 citizens were fined in 384 checks and in Morphou, in a total of 27 checks, no violations were recorded.

Traffic Patrol Department and Marine Police made 111 and 15 checks respectively and no violations were recorded.

According to the Police, the fine in Nicosia οf 500 euro was handed over to the head of an establishment for not having a safe pass. A cafe was also fined because it failed to check the customers for a safe pass. Another fine of 500 was handed to a head of an establishment because an employee did not carry a safe pass.

In Paphos fines of 500 euro each were handed to heads of establishments for failing to comply with health protocols.
