Police hand out 93 fines for violating measures against COVID-19

Cyprus police reported 92 individuals and one premises` owner, during 8,302 checks carried out island-wide in the last 24 hours, for breaching measures in place to contain the spread of COVID-19.

An officer from the Police Press Office told the Cyprus News Agency that in Nicosia the checks were 2,288 and the Police fined 23 individuals, in Limassol the Police carried out 1,247 checks and fined 38 people and in Larnaca the checks were 1.265 and 11 people were fined.

The Police conducted 1,160 checks in Paphos and fined 7 individuals and the owner of one establishment, in Famagusta 10 people were fined in a total of 1,227 checks and in Morphou none was fined in 722 checks.

Finally, the Marine Police carried out 36 and the Emergency Response Unit 12 checks with zero reports. Three individuals were fined out of 345 checks carried out by the Traffic Department.
