Police issue increased number of fines for covid measures violations

Cyprus police issued 140 fines on individuals and two premises for violating measures against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday, day of the Epiphany celebrations.

A police spokesperson told CNA that in the last 24 hours ending on 06:00 Thursday, the Police carried out 5,428 checks including checks in Churches due to the Epiphany.
 
In Nicosia, the Police carried out 1,929 checks reporting 23 individuals, in Limassol 55 individuals and two premises were fined after 622 checks and in Laranca 21 individuals were fined following 1,272 checks.
 
In Pafos, 751 checks were carried out with 15 individuals fined, in Famagusta 604 the Police carried out 604 checks reporting 7 individuals whereas in Morphou 9 individuals were fined after 232.
 
Port Police also carried out 18 checks with no violations reported.
