Police issues 222 fines for COVID-19 measures violations

Cyprus Police reported 220 individuals and 2 premises` owners in the last 24 hour, over the violation of measures, aiming to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Cyprus.

A police spokesperson told CNA that the force has carried out a total of 12,885 checks throughout Cyprus.

In Nicosia district, the Police carried out 3,394 checks reporting 71 individuals, in Limassol district 4,612 checks reporting 70 individuals and 2 premises’ owners and in Larnaca 13 individuals were reported following 1,043 checks. In Pafos out of 1,187 checks carried out 28 individuals were reported, in Famagusta after 1,220 checks 14 individuals were reported and in Morphou after 845 checks 4 people were reported.

Furthermore, the Police Traffic Department carried out 550 checks, reporting 17 individuals, while 3 fines were issued following 28 checks, carried out by the Police’s Rapid Response Unit.

Port and Marine Police carried out 78 checks without finding any violations.
