Police report 141 citizens and 1 shop owner for violations of COVID measures

Police reported 141 citizens and 1 shop owner for violations of COVID measures in a total of 9,108 the last 24 hours across the island.

A press officer from the Police Press Office told the Cyprus News Agency that the shop in Nicosia was fined with 8,000 Euro because of selling all products available instead of only basic items, according to the decree in place.

From the 141 citizens fined, the 84 did not send an sms for their movements, the rest were not wearing a face mask and 1 did not carry a certificate for movement outside.

In Nicosia the Police carried out 1,698 checks and reported 1 shop and 37 citizens, in Limassol the checks were 2,300 and 49 people were fined, in Larnaka the Police conducted 1,367 checks and fined 16 citizens and in Paphos 13 people were reported in a total of 1,076 checks. In Famagusta the checks were 1,327 and 20 people were fined and in Morphou 1 citizen was reported in  499 checks.

The Traffic Department carried out 812 checks and reported 5 citizens and the Marine Police made 29 checks and no violation was reported. No reports were made in the checks carried out at the airports.
