Police report 146 individuals and 1 establishment owner for violating measures against COVID-19

Cyprus police reported 146 citizens and one establishment owner in the last 24 hours for violating measures in place to contain the spread of COVID-19.

A police spokesperson told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that a total of 12,104 checks were carried out island-wide.

In Nicosia the police conducted 4,124 checks and reported 38 citizens, while in Limassol the police reported 44 citizens after carrying out 3,700 checks. In Larnaca 1,063 checks were carried out and the police handed out fines to 19 citizens. In Paphos, the police booked 12 citizens and 1 premises owner after carrying out 959 checks. In Famagusta the police conducted 1,088 checks and booked 24 citizens. One citizen was reported in Morphou where the police conducted 712 checks.

The Traffic Department conducted 386 checks and handed out 7 fines. Moreover, the Emergency Response Unit carried out 25 checks  with 1 fine and the Port Police 47 checks without reporting anyone.
