Police report 151 citizens and 5 establishments for violations of COVID measures

The Cyprus Police reported 151 citizens and 5 establishment owners for violations of COVID measures in a total of 11,803 checks the last 24 hours island wide.

A police officer from the Police Press Office told the Cyprus News Agency that the citizens were fined for not wearing a face mask and not sending an sms for their movements. The shop owners in Nicosia were fined with 500 and 700 euro because they served customers in a closed outdoor area, in violation of the decree.

In Limassol a shop owner was reported and will pay a 500 euro fine for not having the appropriate warning signs for COVID. In Larnaka the owner will pay a 1,000 euro fine for failing to have a rapid test for the 2nd time. Another one will also pay 1,000 euro for serving a customer without a face mask.

In Nicosia the checks were 2,129 and the Police reported 40 citizens and 2 shop owners, in Limassol the Police conducted 3,242 checks and fined 61 citizens and 1 shop owner and in Larnaka in a total of 1,372 checks, the Police reported 15 citizens and 2 shop owners.

In Paphos the Police carried out 1,079 checks and 17 citizens were fined and in Famagusta the Police fined 17 citizens in 1,893 checks.

In Morphou the checks were 858 and no report was made.

The Traffic Department made 1,164 checks and fined 1 citizen, the Emergency Response Unit made 7 checks with no reports and the Port & Marine Police conducted 59 checks and no violation of measures was reported.
