President Christodoulides highlights focus on mountainous areas

Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, has highlighted the Government's commitment to prioritising mountainous areas. Delivering his remarks in the village Askas, in Nicosia district, on Saturday, the President stressed the special attention being given to these regions as part of a broader strategy for regional development.

"We are now officially entering the implementation phase of a truly beneficial project for the region, especially for the young people of our communities," said the President. "Our presence here demonstrates our genuine interest in our communities," he added.

Furthermore, President Christodoulides said that the aim of his administration was to substantially contribute to the improvement of the living standards of citizens, placing greater and special emphasis on remote and mountainous areas.

"One of the biggest problems our young people face is the issue of housing," noted the President, adding that "we must encourage them to come to these areas, paying the necessary attention to the creation of essential infrastructure, including education, as well as providing opportunities for children to engage in leisure activities with suitable facilities and infrastructure, similar to those available to children in urban areas."

The President who laid the foundation stone of the construction project of a mini football field in Askas, said that, that investment was the beginning for the implementation of other similar projects which would contribute to the completion of the vision of the government, to offer facilities in the mountainous areas, in order make the communities attractive to new couples" .
