02/06/2015 16:51
The measures in Hellenic Bank will be lifted as from today and overtimes will be paid.
According to an announcement of the Cyprus Union of Bank Employees and the Hellenic Bank, at a meeting held today between the delegations of ETYK and Hellenic Bank, which was attended by both the CEO of the bank Bert Pijls and the honorary chairman of ETYK Loizos Hadjicostis, in a spirit of good will and mutual cooperation, the outstanding issues between the two sides and the problems created recently were discussed and they jointly decided, although each side retains its views, to begin as soon as possible and continue the intensive discussions in order to reach an agreement on the outstanding issues of the collective agreement 2014 - 2016 concerning (a) the staff loans, (b) the working hours and (c) the evaluation system of the bank staff.

It is stated that the bank will proceed with the granting of staff loans under the existing collective agreement until a new agreement on the issue is reached.

As for the overtimes, the bank's management said it favours the payment of overtime and will soon inform the staff on the procedures governing the issue internally. Where ETYK finds violations of this policy or feels that there may be deviations, it will immediately inform the bank management.

With regard to the recruitments that ETYK denounced as irregular, it was agreed that the issue will be solved through the decision of the mediation service of the Ministry of Labour (already before it).

In addition to the above, the two sides agreed, within the framework of social dialogue, to maintain open lines of communication with frequent contacts between them, to prevent labour disputes or other related problems. Where necessary, the contacts will be attended by executives of both sides at the highest level.

Based on the results of the meeting, the Secretariat of ETYK decided to lift the measure of abstinence from overtime in force until today.
