Meeting at Presidential Palace for BOCY

The efforts of Bank of Cyprus Management and Administration to pull the bank out of the resolution regime were discussed at today’s meeting at the Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of President Nicos Anastasiades.

The meeting was extraordinary and was attended by Finance Minister, Haris Georgiades, Central Bank Governor, Panicos Demetriades, the Chairman of Bank of Cyprus Board and other officials.

Sources say that the meeting was more informative than technocratic and the President was briefed on the latest developments on Bank of Cyprus.

He was informed by the Governor on the efforts to leave the resolution regime and several proposals were submitted to address the liquidity issues created due to the resolution regime and the delay in the removal of restrictions on capital movement.

Mr. Anastasiades was informed – when the CB Governor and the Chairman of BOCY left - for consultations with ETYK over the voluntary retirement plan.

The meeting lasted two hours and no statements were made.

The Finance Minister said that the meeting has informational character.
