‘Common platform not an easy venture’, CSE General Manager says

21/03/2005 11:45
“Collaborations might be a one-way street for the CSE, but the cooperation with Athens is not an easy venture. There is a need to take political decisions in order to change the legislations, while there are technical issues that must be solved. We are currently examining all aspects. We want the common platform to be open. The CSE will not be absorbed by the ASE”, CSE General Manager, Nontas Metaxas told in his interview to StockWatch.

More than that, the CSE must solve a number of issues immediately and must give answers to all those institutional investors who have scruples about the exchange risk, the trustees and the mutual funds.

“The Boards of Directors of the CSE-listed companies must also realize that we would have fewer problems if they had adopted the Corporate Governance Code properly”, he added.

CSE opening hours

Mr. Metaxas said that the CSE is currently examining the issue of its opening hours. “The CSE must review the issue. Our stock exchange closes when all the European stock exchanges open. Time is money for the institutional investors”, he said.

Mr. Metaxas also referred to Suphire, the EU directives and the bureaucratic procedures.
