Trade deficit at €1.5 bn

The trade deficit of Cyprus dropped in the first half of 2015, according to Eurostat data released on Monday.

According to the figures, the deficit declined to €1.5 bn from €1.6bn last year.

Exports rose by 28% to €900 mn while imports were higher by 3% to €2.4 bn.

In Greece, the deficit in the trade balance fell to €9.2 bn from a deficit of €10.5 bn in the first half of 2014.

The euro-area recorded a surplus of €115.0 bn, compared with €76.4 bn in January- June 2014.

The EU28 recorded a surplus of €23.3 bn, compared with a deficit of €3.8 bn in January-June 2014.
