CSE: +11.8% since 1/1

The CSE general index ended 0.4% higher at 80.8 points on Wednesday, pushing gains up 11.8% since 1.1.05. FTSE and the new joint index of the main and parallel market put on 0.3% and 0.2% to 371.7 and 1108.2 points respectively.

Despite intraday gains to £1.65, the Bank of Cyprus remained unchanged at £1.63, while BOC in the ASE is currently recoding losses of 0.7% to £1.63 (2.83 euros).

On the other hand, the Popular Bank and the Hellenic Bank added 0.8% and 0.9% to £1.23 and 44.2 cents respectively. The Hellenic Bank warrant (HBEw) slid 2.4% to 12.2 cents.

The trading volume totaled £587 thousand, £126 thousand of which was absorbed by the Popular Bank (21.4% of the volume), £104.2 thousand by the Bank of Cyprus (17.8%), £52.9 thousand by Louis (9.6%) and £16.1 thousand by the Hellenic Bank (2.7%). LUI remained unchanged at 16.5 cents.

Orphanides with 4.7% of the turnover rose 1.9% to 21.2 cents, Lanitis Bros with 3% of the volume surged 1.7% to 12.2 cents, SAFS with 2.6% of the turnover soared 2.9% to 3.6 cents and CLR Inv. with 2.2% of the volume added 2.2% to 4.6 cents.

Overall, 44 securities went up, 27 fell and 27 remained unchanged.
