CSE drops on Mon

The CSE general index hit a new 8-year low on Monday, closing at 72.6 points and at -1.1%, pressured by the banking stocks that recorded losses of 2%. The Bank of Cyprus fell 1.5% or 2 cents to £1.32, the Popular Bank lost 3.5% or 4 cents to £1.09 and the Hellenic Bank finished 1.9% lower at 42.2 cents.

Similarly, FTSE dropped 1.9% to 318.2 points.

The trading volume stood at £309.7 thousand, with the Bank of Cyprus absorbing 25.9% of the turnover, the Popular Bank 18.3% and the Hellenic Bank 6.1%.

Cytrustees with 9.1% or £28.2 thousand of the volume remained unchanged at 50 cents, Kostas Michaelides with 6.7% or £20.7 thousand remained unchanged at 94 cents and SFS with 5.1% or £15.7 thousand of the volume tumbled 5.7% to 5 cents.

Overall, 11 securities went up, 30 fell and 17 remained unchanged.
