26/04/2004 13:11
The CSE general index fell 0.9% to 79.3 points on Monday, in the aftermath of the referenda carried out in Cyprus and in anticipation of the EU and international reactions to the no vote of the Greek Cypriots. Losses are mostly attributable to the banking stocks that dropped 0.8%, concentrating four fifth of the turnover.

The Bank of Cyprus slid 1.4% or 2 cents to £1.38 absorbing two thirds of the daily volume, while the Popular Bank and the Hellenic Bank lost 1.7% or 2 cents and 2% or 1 cent to £1.16 and 50 cents respectively.

Overall, 32 securities went up, 16 fell and 12 remained unchanged. The daily volume stood at £473 thousand.

Cyprus Airways announced today that it will exercise its call option to acquire an additional 26% of Hellas Jet. The exercise terms are still unknown. With its exercise, however, the Company will hold 75% of the shares of Hellas Jet. Cyprus Airways remained unchanged at 10 cents.
