CSE ends higher on Mon

The CSE general index put on 0.8% to 88.5 points on Monday amid expectations for better days to come after the announcements for improved results by more than 80 companies. Similarly, FTSE surged 1% to 380.5 points, influenced by the banking stocks that soared 1.6%.

The Bank of Cyprus added 1.3% or 2 cents to £1.54, the Popular Bank closed at £1.29 and at +0.7% (+1 cent) and the Hellenic Bank recorded gains of 1.7% to 56 cents.

The trading volume amounted to £692 thousand, with the Bank of Cyprus being the most attractive stock of the day absorbing 28.4% of the turnover. The other daily volume leaders were the Popular Bank (13.7%), the Hellenic Bank (4.6%), Marketrends (3.8%) and Woolworth (3.2%). MFS climbed 10.3% to 3.2 cents and Ellinas Finance soared 13.7% to 10.8 cents, attracting 2.3% of investors’ interest.

FWW rose 0.3% to 29.5 cents, the Woolworth warrant with 3% of the volume recorded gains of 3.5% to 11.9 cents and the Hellenic Bank warrant with 2.8% of the turnover, put on 3.4% to 18.3 cents.

Overall, 40 securities went up, 38 fell and 24 remained unchanged.
