10 cents rise for BOC!
Remarkable performance +25% for BOCw

The CSE general index surpassed the level of 100 points today reaching the remarkable 101.1 points – last seen on May 15 – and gaining 7.3% (!).

Similarly, FTSE20 – mostly influenced by the banking sector that attracted 40% of the total volume – reported a 7.2% raise to 382.3 points.

The main characteristic of today’s session was the climate of euphoria and the heavy trading volume that totaled CYP 3.27 million.

Stockwatch has contacted the Head of Stock Exchange Trading of Marketrends, Mr. Gavriel Styllas. Mr. Styllas said that the continual and spectacular rises of the CSE are due to mainly tree factors: 1.respond to high hopes that Cyprus partition problem will be settled soon and the Cyprus accession in the EU, 2. the considerable and extended fall of the CSE and 3. its stabilization to 80 and 90 points during the last two months.

Mr. Styllas sees CSE’s last few days as a “small ‘99”, that, so long as there are several corrections, it is possible that it will be continued.

It is worth mentioning that since October 10, the CSE general index has risen by 27.5% (!), FTSE20 by 28.1%, the Bank of Cyprus by 31.1%, the Popular Bank by 25.3%, the Hellenic Bank by 24.2%, while the Bank of Cyprus warrants have risen by 188%!
