CSE hit a new 4 ½ year low

New slump for BOC

The CSE general index has today experienced losses of 0.7% closing at 80.4 points and hitting a new 4 ½ year low since February 6, 1998. FTSE20/CySE20 mostly pressured by the banking sector that lost 0.7% due to the Bank of Cyprus closed to 306.5 points loosing ?0.6%.

The Bank of Cyprus fell -0.9% to CYP 1.09, while the Popular Bank, the Hellenic and the Bank of Cyprus warrants recouped losses and remained unchanged.

Trading totaled CYP 428 thousands with banks attracting considerable investors interest and concentrating 46% of the total volume.
Specifically, the Bank of Cyprus was the most marketable share of the day (22.6% or CYP 97 thousands), the Popular Bank with 13.4% of the turnover closed at CYP 1.02, the Hellenic Bank closed at 68 cents and 6.8% of the total volume, while BOCw remained at 14 cents and marketability 3.3%.

Louis (4.2% of the turnover) and Hadjiioannou Farm (3% of the turnover) closed at 13.2 cents (-1.5) and 9.6 cents (-1%) respectively. Lanitis Bros lost 11.5% to CYP 17 cents, while Pipis Farm fell 12.7% to 23.9 cents.

Overall, 27 securities went up, 43 fell and 27 remained unchanged.
