Significant losses for BOC


The CSE general index sank 3.1 per cent on Monday, reaching the lowest level within the current month that is 102 points. FTSE20- mostly pressured by the Banking sector that fell 3.4 per cent – closed at 402 points and –3.3 per cent.

The Bank of Cyprus warrants - being the most active stock of the day (19.9 per cent of the total volume) – reported considerable losses of 10.3 per cent or 6 cents dropping to 52 cents, while the trading volume of the day hardly totaled CYP 1.27 million.

The Bank of Cyprus attracting a considerable investors’ interest (12.4 per cent of the total trading volume) slumped 3.7 per cent or 6 cents to CYP 1.55, while the other volume leaders of the day reported significant losses, as well. Specifically, the Popular Bank with 8.3 per cent of the turnover traded 2.3 per cent or 3 cent lower to CYP 1.27, CLR Investment with 7.6 per cent of the daily volume tumbled 7.7 per cent to 10.8 cents, and Hadjiioannou Farm with 4.7 per cent of the turnover reached 11.9 cents and –6.3 per cent.


The financial sector was once again at the forefront of the decline, accounting losses of 4.6 per cent. Sharelink with 1.3 per cent of the volume declined 9.8 per cent to 11 cents, SAFS with 1.6 per cent of the turnover was off 6.9 per cent at 10.8 cents and Marketrends with 1.1 per cent of the total volume fell 6.1 per cent to 4.6 cents. Last but not least, Suphire with 1.6 per cent of the trading volume finished 2.4 per cent lower to 16.6 cents.

CPI was the worst performer of the day concentrating 2.1 per cent of the turnover and closing at 53 cents and –13.1 per cent or 8 cents. Similarly, Multichoice, Cytrustees, Demetra and Louis with 2.9, 4.1, 3.4 and 3.5 per cent of the daily volume slipped 7.9, 6.6, 4.8 and 3.8 per cent to 31.1, 49.5, 32 and 17.8 cents respectively. The Hellenic Bank with only 1 per cent of the turnover ended up the session 2.4 per cent lower to 81 cents.

Overall, 13 securities went up (Liberty with 1.8 per cent of the total volume closed at 23.3 cents and +5.9 per cent), 84 fell and 9 ended unchanged.
