CSE soars at last…

The CSE general index managed bounce off its three consecutive declines (-2.8%) on Thursday, closing 1% higher at 92.5 points, mostly influenced by the blue chips. Similarly FTSE soared 1.8% to reach 363.3 points.

The trading volume of the session totalled CYP 637 thousand, while the banking stocks (excluding Cyprus Popular Bank) reported considerable gains absorbing 2/3 (almost CYP 404 thousand) of the daily volume.

The Bank of Cyprus warrants was the most active stock of the day concentrating 29.8% of the turnover and climbing 5.1% to 35 cents. The other daily volume leaders were the Popular Bank (15.8% of the volume), the Hellenic Bank (4%) and Louis (3.5%). CPB remained unchanged at CYP 1.23, BOC surged 3% to CYP 1.39, HB closed at 70 cents and at +1.5% and LCL gained 0.7% as well to reach 15 cents.

Top Kinisis with 1.4% of the turnover led decliners in the CSE finishing 5.8% weaker at 33.9 cents. In the financial sector, Sharelink and SAFS attracting 1.1% and 1.5% of investors’ interest, added 3.7% and 1.3% to close at 8.4 and 8 cents respectively.

Overall, 48 securities went up, 30 fell and 17 remained unchanged.
