Significant gains for BOCw-BOC-CPB

The CSE general index traded into positive territory on Thursday, closing at 104.5 points and +2.2 per cent, while FTSE20 – influenced by the Bank of Cyprus and the Popular Bank that gained 3.9 per cent each – reported gains of 3.6 per cent to close at 415.4 points.

The trading volume totaled CYP 1.5 million with the Bank of Cyprus warrants being the most marketable stock of the day (15.5 per cent of the total volume) soaring 5.6 per cent or 3 cents to 57 cents. Elma Holdings on it turn was very much heavily traded (due to pre-agreed packages), ending up 1.2 per cent lower to 8.2 cents.

The Popular Bank and the Bank of Cyprus with 9.3 and 8.7 per cent of the turnover reported gains of 5 and 6 cents to reach CYP 1.33 and CYP 1.60 respectively. Meanwhile, the other volume leader of the day was CLR Investment attracting 6.7 per cent of the trading volume and finishing 5.5 per cent higher to 11.6 cents.

Marketrends with 2.3 per cent of the turnover was the best performer of the session scrambling up 6.7 per cent to 4.8 cents. Similarly, Sharelink and SAFS with 2.3 and 2.5 per cent of the daily volume added 5.3 and 4.5 per cent to 12 and 11.7 cents respectively, while in the “Other Companies” sector, Louis with 2.4 per cent of the turnover rose 3.9 per cent to 18.6 cents and Multichoice with 2.3 per cent of the volume was up 3.2 per cent to 32.1 cents. The Hellenic Bank - attracting 5 per cent of investors’ interest – closed at 83 cents and +2.5 cents, while Hadjiioannou Farm with 5.9 per cent of the turnover put on 1.6 per cent to 12.4 cents.

Overall, 83 securities went up, 18 fell and 12 remained unchanged.
