First day of losses in the CSE after 10 days of successive gains

-Negligible losses for BOC

After ten straight days of gains, the CSE general index and FTSE20 recorded losses of 0.5% to 87.2 and 330.2 points respectively. As far as the banking sector is concerned, the Popular Bank and the Hellenic Bank remained unchanged at yesterday’s levels, while the Bank of Cyprus suffered small losses of 0.8% or 1 cent.

The trading volume totaled only CYP 664 thousand, while the most marketable stock of the day was once again the Bank of Cyprus concentrating 13.7% of the total volume and closing at CYP 1.19. The Popular Bank with 12.8% of the turnover closed at CYP 1.09, while Liberty Insurance with 8.4% of the total volume ended 3.8% lower to 20.2 cents. The other volume leaders of today’s session were the Bank of Cyprus warrants (5.7% of the turnover) and Prochoice (5.5% of the total volume) that slid 0.9% and 2.6% to 22.2 and 7.5 cents respectively. The Hellenic Bank (3.8% of the total volume) was not among the volume leaders closing at 74 cents.

Marketrends with 3.8% of the turnover ended up with significant gains of 6.5% to 3.3 cents, Hadjiioannou Farm (5.4% of the total volume) rose 0.9% to 10.7 cents and Tsokkos (3.7% of the total volume) added 0.6% to 16.5 cents. On the other hand, Sharelink (1.5% of the turnover) sank 5.9% to 8 cents, while Louis and CLR Inv with 5% and 3.5% of the total volume, remained unchanged at 15.1 and 7.6 cents respectively.

Overall, 32 securities went up, 47 fell and 26 remained unchanged.
