Significant gains for BOCw

The CSE general index traded 0.5 per cent higher on Friday, reaching 105.2 points and reducing weekly losses to 3.1 per cent. FTSE20 on its turn, closed at 415.8 points and +0.5 per cent, falling by 3.4 per cent on a weekly basis.

The Bank of Cyprus and the Popular Bank traded into positive territory today, recording gains of 0.6 and 0.8 per cent respectively, while the Bank of Cyprus warrants jumped 3.6 per cent to 58 cents (+2 cents).

The trading volume of the day amounted to CYP 1.34 million, while CYP 380 thousand of the total volume concerned the pre-agreed packages of Elma Holdings. It is noted that today’s trading was the lowest within the current month.

The major volume leaders of the day were Elma Holdings (28.3 per cent of the total volume), the Bank of Cyprus warrants (16.6 per cent), the Bank of Cyprus (8 per cent), the Popular Bank (7.7 per cent) and Pharmakas Quarries (3.8 per cent). Specifically, ERA soared 2.4 per cent to 8.5 cents, BOC closed at CYP 1.61 (+1 cent), CPB reached CYP 1.30 and + 1 cent, while PHA climbed 6.4 per cent to 25.1 cents.

As far as the financial sector is concerned, Marketrends and Sharelink with 1.5 and 2.2 per cent of the turnover added 4.3 and 3.4 per cent to close at 4.9 and 12.2 cents respectively. Then, CLR Inv with 2.9 per cent of the trading volume and Louis with 3.2 per cent of the turnover ended up the session remaining unchanged at 11.7 and 18.5 cents respectively, while Hadjiioannou Farm with 2.8 per cent of the daily volume gained 0.8 per cent to 12.7 cents.

Overall, 60 securities went up, 34 fell and 21 remained unchanged.
