22/02/2016 14:51
Registrations of passenger cars recorded a new increase in January, reflecting the gradual improvement in the car sales industry and, more generally, in consumption.

According to data the Statistical Service released today, saloon (passenger car) registrations reached 2.034 in January 2016 compared with 1.803 in January 2015, which corresponds to an increase of 12,8%.

New saloon registrations rose by 25.7% to 1.065 from 847 in January 2015.

Used car registrations showed a lower increase of 1.4% as they reached 969 from 956 last year.

In 2015, saloon registrations increased for the second consecutive year as they reached the highest level since 2011.

Saloon registrations fell to the lowest level of nineteen years, in 2013.

Market players expect that the increase is going to continue in 2016, noting that there is particular interest for SUVs.
