14/12/2004 14:11
According to CYSTAT data released on Tuesday, total cement sales in November recorded an increase of 21.2% to 149,246 tons compared to the corresponding month of 2003. For January – November 2004, total sales showed an increase of 18.4% to 1,408,954 compared to the corresponding period of 2003.

For the same period, total monthly consumption reached 128,087 tons against 108,161 in the corresponding period of 2003.

According to Vasiliko Cements General Manager, Giorgos Sideris, indications so far have showed that demand for 2005 will remain at the same levels. “The more we reach the end of the year, the more reliable indications become”, he said. Mr. Sideris said that despite the forecasts for 2005, his industry intends to reach more flexible agreements for the export of cement. “This would facilitate domestic demand, since the issue of building permits is constantly increasing. The strike measures of the lorry drivers, however, will affect the cement sales in December”, he concluded.
