Consumption goes down

According to CYSTAT data released on Friday, the retail trade activity is still going down.

According to provisional estimates, the Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade (except automotive fuel) fell 1.7% in August 2009 compared to the corresponding month of 2008. In July, it had reorded a decrease of 3.2%.

Compared to July 2009, the Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade dropped by 13 points or 9.7%.

In January – July 2009, the Index recorded a decrease of 2.4% compared to the corresponding period of 2008.
