Jan credit card transactions surge

According to JCC data released on Wednesday, credit card transactions in Cyprus for January 2004 increased by 13% to 1,149,612 (Jan 2003: 1,018,793), while the value of transactions for the same period increased by 14% to £46,287,887 (Jan 2003: £40,504,703). The average value of credit card transactions remained at £40.

Credit card transactions by Cypriots abroad for January 2004 increased by 5% to 113.492 compared to the corresponding period of 2003 (107,626), whereas the value of transactions for the same period increased by 1% to £11,697,807 (Jan 2003: £11,606,851). The average value of transactions dropped from £108 to £103.

Credit card transactions by tourists showed an increased of 8% in January 2004 compared to an increase of 13% in the corresponding period of 2003. The value of transactions increased by 5% (Jan 2003: 16%).
