Turnover value and volume of retail trade decrease in 2020

Turnover value and volume of retail trade in 2020, is estimated to have recorded according to data released on Thursday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

In particular, according to the data, a decrease of 3.4% was observed in the turnover value index of retail trade for the period of January - December 2020 compared to the same period of 2019.

On the basis of provisional estimates, in December 2020, a month during which COVID-19 containment measures continued to apply in Cyprus, the index decreased by 0.6% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 143.6 units (base 2015=100).

Turnover volume index of retail trade is also estimated to have recorded a decrease of 1.9% in 2020 compared to 2019.

However, on the basis of provisional estimates, the index increased in December by 2.1% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 153.0 units (base 2015=100).
