According to CYSTAT data released on Monday, domestic cement sales recorded a sharp drop in May. Specifically, cement sales dropped by 3% to 134 thousand tons against 138 thousand tons in May 2004.
It is the first time in the past sixteen months that cement sales fall and this is possibly attributable to the bad whether conditions in late May.
This drop reduced the increase in cement sales in January-May to 11%. Total sales reached 679 thousand against 612 thousand in the corresponding period of 2004.
