Construction materials price index rose by 17% in 2022

The Price Index of Construction Materials for the period January-December 2022 recorded an increase of 17.21% compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

The increase of the index in 2022 over the previous year is mainly due to the increase in the prices of the following materials: PVC doors and windows increased by 45.41%, bricks by 30.08%, bitumen asphalt by 29.24%, plastic pipes and tubes by 28.51%, structural grid 28.12%, building iron 27.74%, iron rails 26.40%. Aluminium doors and windows increased by 25.25%, roofs and metallic parts for the assembly of gypsumboards and cementboards recorded an increase of 23.55% and structural steel by 22.92%.

The Price Index of Construction Materials for December 2022 reached 133.62 units (base year 2015=100), recording a decrease of 0.24% compared to the previous month.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index recorded an increase of 11.67%. By main commodity category, increases were recorded in minerals, which increased by 13.43%, mineral products by 12.18%, products of wood, insulation materials, chemicals and plastics by 11.57%, metallic products by 11.21% and electromechanical products by 10.25%.
