At a Press Conference held on Wednesday, Chairman of the Contractors Association, Demetris Sampson warned that the “increasing cost of constructions might be a disincentive” for the citizens and might affect negatively the island’s construction industry.
It is noted that according to the contractors’ representatives, there will be an increase of 5% - 8% in 2004 against 2003, but this by no mean will reach 15%. This increase is attributable to the price hike in row materials, the increase in labour cost and the low productivity.
