Cyprus not to request financial aid from EU

10/04/2003 13:24
Government sources revealed to StockWatch that Cyprus is not expected to request financial aid from the European Union to minimize its negative impacts from the war in Iraq, stressing that the subsidy received by the EU following the Gulf war in 1991 was attributable to the fact that the UN and the EU participated actively in the war.

Similarly, the issue of compensations from the US and Britain has not been raised by the government yet, but might be set under examination at a later stage.
