Finance Minister Takis Klerides met with officers from the European Union who are preparing the last evaluation report on Cyprus. During the meeting views were exchanged concerning the revised Pre-accession Economic Program which Cyprus is preparing and a general evaluation of the Cyprus economy was made. It was noted that both evaluation reports from the EU and from other international organisations confirm that Cyprus has so far achieved alignment, complying at the same time with Copenhagen directives.

On basic matters of policy, matters discussed included tax reforms, the independency of the Central Bank and matters of alignment related to structural changes, the introduction of the General Health Plan and pricing of water.
