Many Cypriot citizens expressed their interest for the tax amnesty during the first day of submission of the relevant application, Special Tax Liabilities Administration Committee, Theofilos Theofilou said on Monday. “A large number of citizens has already obtained and submitted the relevant application forms together with the requested amount”, Mr. Theofilou said, avoiding to comment on the amounts that the Committee has collected.
However, the obscurities on the legislation concerning the amnesty on the pending cases due to objections have not been lifted so far. Mr. Theofilou said that no circular is at the disposal of the Inland Revenue Department Manager, who would clarify the obscurities.
The legislation on the tax amnesty gives the opportunity to the citizens that have not settled their tax liabilities to declare their income submitting a 5% taxation (6.5% as from December 5). The Committee will accept applications until December 31.
