The number of bounced cheques in the market has recorded a significant drop.
According to Central Bank data released on Wednesday, the number of bounced cheques in May 2015 declined to 92 from 141 in April and 204 in May 2014.
On an annual basis, their number fell by 54.9%.
As for the first five months of 2015, the number of bounced checks stood at 707 compared to 1100 in the corresponding period of 2014, showing a decrease of 35.7%.
Their value fell in May 2015 to €89 thousand from €111.8 thousand in April and €161.3 thousand in the corresponding month last year.
In the first five months of the year, the value of bounced checks fell to €798.9 thousand from €1.2 million.
