The Advisory Economic Committee of the Finance Ministry will meet on Wednesday at 4.00 pm to asses the prevailing situation of the Cyprus economy and examine the government’s supportive measures to minimize negative impacts from the war in Iraq.

The Finance Minister, Marcos Kyprianou is expected to refer to preliminary indications and not provisions, while the Ministry’s departments are requested to collect all the relevant data on the Cyprus economic indices by April 10.

According to first indications, the negative impacts on the island’s economy for April will be greater than in the previous month, while “correct forecasts” will be based on the decline of the tourist arrivals and reservations for the summer season.

The meeting will be attended by the Ministers and General Managers of the Finance, Commerce and Labour Ministries, the Central Bank Governor, the General Manager of the Planning Office and the trade unions.
