Cyprus – Saudi Arabia Business Association holds inaugural meeting

The Cyprus – Saudi Arabia held on Wednesday its inaugural meeting in Nicosia.

Participants said the association opens new prospects economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Natasa Pilides praised the relations between the two countries.

“Relations between Saudi Arabia and Cyprus were extremely positive and close and we would like to further enhance them both on a political and an economic level,” she said.

She emphasised that the Ministry stands ready and willing to offer all the support so that the work of the Association will be successful and produce concrete results.

Kornelios Korneliou, the Foreign Ministry’s Permanent Secretary described the association’s establishment “as a milestone in our bilateral relations, following the opening of the two Embassies in Riyadh and Nicosia.”

Recalling that last August saw the the first ever visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia to Cyprus, Korneliou added that if the pandemic permits it “we are going to organise the first political consultations in Riyadh in the near future in order to promote our bilateral agenda.”

Concluding, he assured that the Foreign Ministry stands ready to support the efforts aiming to improve ties between the two countries.

On behalf of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Saud Almusaed assured his country`s Embassy is ready to support the promotion of the relations between the two countries.

Christodoulos Angastiniotis. Chairman of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce said for the Saudi Arabia is a very important economic partner and a very important business partner.

He added the Association’s inauguration comes after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the CCCI and the Council of Saudi Arabia’s Chambers last February.
