Georgiades: Different approach from Greece

30/01/2015 10:18
The Cypriot government has a different approach from the new Greek government regarding the economic issues, said today the Finance Minister Haris Georgiades.

In his statements on state radio and asked about the positive references to Tsipras government made yesterday in parliament by political leaders, the finance minister stressed that he expresses in the most absolute and unequivocal manner his respect to a democratic process.

He noted that "it is clear that at the same time we have a different approach to economic policy and yet I wish every success."

"Being aware of the risks and consequences, I frankly wish every success to the new Greek government and look forward to have a conversation with the Finance Minister probably at the next Eurogroup to be held in about two weeks," noted the minister and added:

"In Cyprus we face real problems, not imposed by others, because we must finally fix everything that led the economy, budget and our banking system to the brink of collapse. It is in this way, with hard effort and not with wishful thinking that objectives are achieved. "
