Industrial output prices down

Industrial Output Prices for the period January-April 2021 showed a decrease of 2.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2020, according to data released Monday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

The Index for April 2021 reached 102.1 units (base 2015=100), recording an increase of 0.6% compared to March 2021. Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the index recorded a decrease of 0.8%.

In April 2021 compared to March 2021, the index remained stable in the sector of electricity supply, while it showed a rise in the sectors of mining and quarrying by 0.3%, manufacturing by 0.6% and water supply and materials recovery by 2.3%.
 
Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, an increase was recorded in the sectors of water supply and materials recovery (26.5%), manufacturing (1.0%) and mining and quarrying (0.6%) and a decrease in the sector of electricity supply (-12.6%). 
 
By division of economic activity in manufacturing, in April 2021 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, increases were recorded in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (5.8%), the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (3,8%) and the manufacture of wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture (3.4%), while decreases were recorded in the manufacture of refined petroleum products, chemicals and chemical products and pharmaceutical products and preparations (-0.3%), the manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel and leather products (-0.5%) and the manufacture of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment (-0.8%).
