Industrial turnover down 9% in the first two months of 2021

Industrial turnover recorded an annual decrease of 9% during the first two months of 2021, according to data released Wednesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

In February 2021, the Industrial Turnover Index reached 124.9 units (base 2015=100), recording a decrease of 5.9% compared to February 2020. For the period January-February 2021, the index recorded a decrease of 9.0% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

For manufacturing, the Industrial Turnover Index for February 2021 reached 132.1 units (base 2015=100), recording a decrease of 1.7% compared to February 2020. Decreases of 30.4% and 2.0% were also observed in the sectors of electricity supply and mining and quarrying respectively. On the contrary, an increase of 17.8% was noted in the water supply and materials recovery sector.
