Multiannual programme of statistical activities for the period 2023-2027

The multiannual programme of statistical activities for the period 2023-2027 was approved by the Council of Ministers, according to a statement of the Statistical Service, issued on Wednesday.

The programme outlines the surveys and other activities that are scheduled to be carried out by the Statistical Service and the other national authorities during this five-year period. For each activity, the programme includes a brief description of its purpose, legal basis, frequency, data collection method, deadline for submitting the data to Eurostat and timeframe for the dissemination of the results. An estimate by statistical theme of the cost required for the implementation of the programme is also provided.

Additionally, the Statistical Service prepares annual programmes of statistical activities, which give a more detailed account of each survey/activity and the timeframe for each implementation task. The surveys or other work conducted relate to economic, demographic, social, environmental or agricultural matters.

Some of the surveys that are envisaged to be carried out during this period, – in addition to the usual annual, quarterly and monthly ones are Earnings Survey (2023 & 2027), Labour Cost Survey (2025), Adult Education Survey (2023), Health Interview Survey (2025), Family Budget Survey (2023 &2026), Survey on the Structure of Agricultural Holdings (2023 & 2026), etc.

According to the Statistical Service, about 90% of the activities covered in the programme is laid down in the EU statistical acquis and is conducted in all Member States on the basis of uniform standards and harmonised methodology.
