OEB: Cyprus’ dynamism minimized impacts

07/05/2003 14:44
The dynamism and adjustability of the Cyprus economy have minimized the negative impacts on the island, despite the military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and the world economic recession, said Chairman of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), Vironas Kranidiotis, on the occasion of the Annual General Meeting of the Federation to take place on May 14.

Mr. Kranidiotis said that the growth rate of the Cyprus economy for 2002 has reached 2% compared to 4.1% in 2001, while the Service sector for 2002 has contributed a 75.6% to the GDP. The share in export services amounts to 82.8%.

With regard to the Cyprus accession in the EU, Mr. Kranidiotis noted that the European Union and other international organizations support Cyprus’ ability to face challenges.
