President stresses to Cabinet importance of timely reform implementation

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has stressed during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday the importance of implementing reforms within the timelines set out in the Recovery and Resilience Plan, Government Spokesperson Marios Pelekanos said after the meeting, adding that the discussion will continue on Friday morning.

During the four-hour Cabinet meeting, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Interior, Education, Transport and Justice “briefed the President on the implementation course of projects, reforms, policies and strategies within their sphere of competence,” Pelekanos said in his statements.

“A particular reference was made to projects included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan ‘Cyprus – Tomorrow’,” he added.

The Government Spokesperson further noted that “upon implementation of the reforms included in the Plan, Cyprus will absorb 1.2 billion euros from the Recovery and Resilience Fund.”

“The President stressed the importance of implementing reforms within the timelines set out in the Plan,” he pointed out.

Pelekanos also said that the Cabinet’s meeting will continue on Friday at 10:00 local time when a review of the course of implementation of projects, reforms, policies and strategies within the sphere of competence of the rest of the Ministries and Deputy Ministries will take place.
