Total sales of industrial commodities up by 7.3% in 2016

Total sales of industrial commodities were up by 7.3% in 2016 on an annual basis, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service, on Monday, show.

According to the Statistical Service’s data during 2016, total sales of industrial commodities reached €2,628.4 million compared to €2,448.6 million in 2015, registering an increase of 7.3%.

On the basis of the detailed data the value of production of gravel and sand pits operations and the mining of clays and caolin was in 2016 €38.7 million compared to €29.7 in 2015.

An increase was also observed, among others in the value of milk and cheese production in 2016 compared to the previous year and in particular of halloumi with its value recorded at €153.1 million compared to €127.6 in 2015.

The value of wine production was also slightly up in 2016 at €22.6 million compared to €22.4 million in 2015, although in 2014 it was recorded at €26.2 million.

The value of beer produced in Cyprus was also up at €42 million in 2016 compared to €37.9 million in 2015 and 2014.
