CY inflation drops

Inflation fell in Cyprus although it is still above the euro area average, according to Eurostat data.

It stood at 2.9% in June from 3.7% in May and 4.5% in June 2011.

Inflation in the euro area stood at 2.4% in June 2012.

Euro area annual inflation was 2.4% in June 2012, unchanged compared with May. A year earlier the rate was 2.7%.

EU annual inflation was 2.6% in June 2012, up from 2.5% in May. A year earlier the rate was 3.1%.

Greece has the lowest inflation in the euro area at 1.0% against 0.9% in May and 3.1% in June 2011.

On the other hand, highest inflation is observed in Malta (4.4%), Estonia (4.4%), Slovakia (3.7%) and Italy (3.6%).
