Harmonized index of consumer prices up by 1.2% in April

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices recorded an annual 1.2% increase in April, the Statistical Service of Cyprus said on Wednesday.
 
“In April 2019 the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices increased by 1.2% compared to the index of April 2018 and by 1.3% compared with the index of March 2019”, Cystat announced.
 
Between January-April 2019, the HICP increased by 1.3% compared with the same period of the previous year.   
 
Compared with April 2018, the largest change was in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels with 6.4%, whereas compared with March 2019, the largest change was in transport with 5.9%.
 
Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels saw the largest increase with 8.4% in the first four months of the year, compared with the same period of the previous year.
 
In terms of economic origin, the largest annual change was in Energy with 2.9%, while Services saw the biggest monthly change with 2.3%.
